A three-day workshop on the elimination of forced labor at Athurigiri.

A three-day workshop for the elimination of forced labor was started yesterday (18) morning at the National Plantation Management Institute in Athurugiri. The workshop was started under the chairmanship of Mr. SM Piyatissa, Secretary of the Ministry of Labor and with the participation of International Labor Organization Representative Joni Simpson, Labor Commissioner General Nadika Wataliadda and the Executive Director of the National Police Training College - DIG Manjula Mahagirilla. 

Here, the efforts of the Ministry of Labor and the Department of Labor to eliminate forced labor were also evaluated by the representative of the International Labor Organization, Ms. Joni Simpson.  

This workshop was organized to provide knowledge and guidance on the elimination of forced labor to the officials selected from the Department of Labor, Police Department and Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Ministry of Tourism representing the two provinces of Basnahira and Sabaragamuwa and resources were contributed by those institutions.
