History of the District Court of Point Pedro

History of the Establishment of the District Court of Point Pedro - Jaffna

Prior to obtaining permanent district jurisdiction, Point Pedro functioned as a circuit court operating under the legal purview of Jaffna. The judicial administration in the region evolved through periods of administrative realignment, institutional relocations, and post-war infrastructural modernization.

From its early days operating in the Kottam area under a single presiding judge to its temporary relocations and modern resurgence, the court has continually served as a cornerstone for civil and criminal justice in the Vadamarachchi sector.
